Godot: Video Preview in Editor
A downloadable tool
Buy Now$2.00 USD or more
This gdscript when attached to a VideoStreamPlayer node in any scene will provide you with the ability to preview a video .ogv file immediately within the Godot Game Editor preview panes without having to run your scenes to see the video content. Very helpful when proofing the node's appearance and position vs the video content giving you more precision than trying use the inspector and reloading the scenes.
TL;DR: Watch your video nodes immediately in the editor.
How the tool works:
- Create a VideoStreamPlayer node in any scene.
- Attach the script the VideoSteamPlayer node.
- Attach your .ogv video file to the node's Stream input, in the Inspector.
- Press the Play checkbox to view the video in the editor.
Support:
- Support is not planned, though likely the script will be updated in the future as Godot stable versions progress. We can always chat about it over on Bluesky or reach out to us at Grip Fast Gameworks. There is a mini thread on use and other notes here: https://bsky.app/profile/gripfastgame.works/post/3ly55dp5sk22p
